Green Heron

Posted by Barbara (Florida, United States) on 10 October 2009 in Animal & Insect and Portfolio.

I enjoy the Green Herons colorful plumage and eyes. I spotted this one perched on an old root sticking out of the water as he sat in a very small cove. Probably no more than 8 feet wide.
There was shade from the brush along the waters edge with just the right sunlight shining through. I had to stand on my toes to find a clear spot through the branches.

One thing I enjoy about shooting nature and wildlife, is being able to get close enough for the best shot possible without disturbing the wildlife.
I feel good when I can walk away and they remain as they are.

Side note: I was rather pleased with this image until I uploaded and saw the noticeable change in quality.
