Night Palm

Posted by Barbara (Florida, United States) on 29 July 2009 in Abstract & Conceptual and Portfolio.

This wasn't the composition I originally wanted. Ideally I wanted the building and the palm tree with some of another tree silhouette that was to the right. In order to get that portion of the tree I had to allow more glaring street lights, an odd portion of another building and a small distracting piece of a well lit bridge on the left, not enough to give value to the image.
So I cropped it all out and went with the portion of the image that had no distraction at all, just the main characters of the image I wanted in the first place.
The location was at waters edge and did not allow another unblocked view.

Imagine standing there in the darkness, eery quietness, camera on a tripod, your thoughts and lens focused as you peer into the viewfinder, and a huge fish jumps just feet away.
I almost jumped out of my shoes!

Location: Downtown Clearwater, Florida. Update: The building is a new condominium high rise overlooking Clearwater Harbor.
