Man with a Story

He had a story but little to say.
Although his friend sitting nearby did most of the talking.

Initially I posted this as a black & white image. There was too much contrast, too harsh in my opinion. I replaced it with a slight sephia tone and touch of border/framing.

I find I have been more critical about my images and any processing lately. I may be in a transition wanting to accomplish something new with my photography.

For one I have had little time lately and it has been incredibly hot here for outdoor adventures with my camera.

Recently I have been digging into the archives and find there is a wonderful advantage.

1. They are bringing back memories of a trip to the East coast I really enjoyed.
2. Some of the images I like better now than when I captured them.
3. And best of all of this gives me time to visit your blogs more.

Thanks to all of you who visit and comment. I accept humorous, kind and constructive criticism. I value every visit. AM3 is a wonderful community.

I agree, your posted comments today are really good. And yes, it is too hot in Florida to go on many excursions these days, and you can take only so many sunsets and sunrises before they all look the same.

But this photo is magic! I mean the guy is really an interesting study. If there is such a thing as a modern day pirate, he'd fill the profile by his appearance alone. The setting he's in is perfect; I love the palms on the image's right background side. And the pointy grasses or whatever they are on the left. His arm, leaning on the table is perfect posture for a man who has not a care in the world. Brilliant also to use sepia.

@Viewfinder: I forgot to mention heavy rain. Which is what we have in this area. Good point that sunsets and sunrises begin to look the same.

Your perception of a modern day pirate was excellent. Exactly what I see him as now that you gave him that title. I like it better than Man with a Story.
He wanted to portray himself as tough but I could tell under that shell he really wasn't. Later a woman showed up with meals to pass out to this fellow and others who seemed to wait for her arrival.

Very sensitive image, Barb - I'm guessing St. Augustine area? I like the sepia tone as it offers warmth.

VF's comment says so much - I agree - too hot to be outside for any length of time.

I also agree with your numbered points. In digging through my archives, some photos I'd earlier felt mediocre, now hold more interest and value.

@Judy: Thank you Judy, you are right this is St. Augustine. There are at least a 1000 more photos I wish I took during that time. Of course I will return to visit again someday.
I forgot to mention heavy rain.
Isn't it something to discover an image you took sometime back and find it to be one of the better images captured.

Diggin in the archives IS fun. I like the tone of the photo and I could also see how b&w might be a bit to harsh with all the textures in the photo.
