This is a full view of yesterday's image. It doesn't do well showing her length. I could have gotten along side of her for a full length view but I am sure you understand. At least 10 feet is my approximate guess on length. The eye on the left is bad. She has been in this park a long time and all the while with that bad eye so she has survived. What is interesting is that just this morning I heard on the news that they have discovered unique antibiotic proteins in the blood of American alligators that can kill a wide range of deadly bacteria . So perhaps this is in her favor. If interested here is an article I found giving more details: http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2008/04/080407074556.htm
This is an incredible view Barbara, still a little too close, the info was also interesting, I 'm opposed though to any animal experimentation. But I have no problems with great photos ;)

@Teresa Durães: Thank you for commenting. I am fascinated by alligators, not as much now as I once was but sometimes I do wonder what I find interesting in such a creature that certainly is not cute and cuddly. Perhaps because they seem mysterious.
Wow, dangerous shot. It's great.
