Known as the “Jewel of St. Petersburg,” The Pier is an integral part of Tampa Bay history. Owned and operated by the City of St. Petersburg, it has been an institution in the city since 1899, when city founder Peter Demens first brought his Orange Belt Railroad to connect to the wharf. But what residents remember most is 1926 Million Dollar Pier, predecessor to the current building, that was torn down in 1973. In 1988, the pier was renovated and re-opened as part of the major redevelopment of downtown St. Petersburg.
I've only seen this on TV - have never been there, and I've never seen a closeup like yours.
We went to the Tampa VA last Wed - Mike will get a hip soon, but there is sooooo much traffic down there! :(

@Judy: The pier and nearby area is a wonderful place to visit. I frequented the area back in the 80's early 90's. The city is always renewing itself. It has been years since I was there. I make it sound far but it is less than a half hour drive... Traffic permitting. I admit there can be some adjustment to this area with all of the congestion. This time of year it is at it's peak. My best to Mike for his upcoming physical transformation. Thank you for your comment.
What an interesting building - great shot with the contrast between the white building and that blue blue sky. All those angles make for a great composition.

Just awesome, lovely colors. Like all the birds, the people must feed them or something ?
