Mati comes in many forms such as jewelry or glass ornaments like this one. You can wear them or hang anywhere an evil eye may be given out of envy. There is a long history on Mati far too long to present here. I used this glass Mati as practice for my new lightbox. Attempting to experiment with light and macro. This Mati does happen to be my favorite.
The evil eye is known as: Mati in Greek , Ayin horeh in Hebrew , Ayin harsha in Arabic, Nazar in Turkey , Ashk in Armenian, Droch shuil in Scotland, Mauvais oeil in France, Bösen Blick in Germany, Mal occhio in Italy , and was known as oculus malus among the classical Romans.
The Evil eye has been around for centuries. It simply means sending someone a thought that seems intrusive or invasive or has the power to hurt him or her. The origins of the Evil Eye are Mediterranean and Middle Eastern.

@Lorraine: Thank you Lorraine. I could never give the AM3 community the "oculus malus' It was a bit of a sharp contrast on screen with the colors. It is my first experiment with my light box.
Big Brother is watching you !!!

Nice macro Barbara! And to avert the evil eye you need the hand of Fatima on your door, like here just above the doorknobs. (Might take a few moments to load, photo taken in Sidi Bou Saïd, Tunisia, November 207)

@Wolfgang Prigge: Thank you Wolfgang. The door covered in symbolic design was interesting. Your information led me to new discoveries about a place and history I was unfamiliar with. I appreciate you passing it on.
Nice to meet Mati and thanks for your interesting information about it. Your photo is very attractive and well done.

I forgot all about the evil eye. I have from a trip to the Greek Islands. I never knew too much about it. Just put it away. I went on a nice photo trip with the person from Canada. I know what you do with all your time now.
