It is a common sight in Florida to see an alligator in or near our many ponds or lakes. With some of my photos lately I have added a mat background. I am wondering what the viewers think. Does it distract from the photo for posting here in the blog? Comments welcome. THANK YOU for your input. I decided I really didn't like the appearance of the initial border. I have changed it to a smaller border. There may be something better that works but for now due to time this is what I will go with. I always welcome your comments. Thanks, Barb 66
Barbara, this is awesome, dearly hope you had a zoom :) This viewer thinks that the framing is absolutely first class, it enhances the photos, well done!

@Lorraine: Lorraine, thank you for your comment, I am pleased you like it. Although I was unsure with the border. A zoom was used on this shot. Someday I will post my image of me feeding a 13 footer, including holding his tail.
Wow!Awesome!

@Shahab: Thank you.
Wow! What a capture! Scary! but cool!
I tend to find fancy borders a bit distracting on photoblogs. I have seen some that work, and this looks nice, but I think simple is more effective. I think it's just a matter of personal preference and really if you like it that's all that matters.

@Laurie: Thank you for your kind and honest opinion. It is what I was looking for. I agree some work while others do not. I felt this one was a bit too big around the photo. Plain or smaller border may have been better. Sometimes posting an image without a border just appears too plain to me as far as my photos go. Thank you very much.
GREAT capture (as always w/your gators), Barb. I liked the mat on yesterday's turtle very much. Today I think the gator would 'pop' better set on black since there isn't a lot of contrast in the natural background. Hhowever, I agree that is a matter of personal preference and sometimes it's just a healthy change to 'play' with variations IMO.

I found my eyes wondering to the border, its a beautiful border maybe try smaller? I've always just prefered a small black border that way it keeps the attention on the image.

Wonderful Capture. I love reflection photography always activates the mind to truely focus on the image. The art of keeping it in balance is wonderful!

Impressive image... the reflection is amazing!
As to the border? (yeah, I know, I'm a day late and a dollar short.. story of my life LOL) If it feels good, do it! Ultimately, it comes down to your vision for the image. Me, I use them sometimes just for a little something extra.
