On the boardwalk almost stepped on. I wonder if he sees his shadow. 39
Cool. Different from the usual grasshopper feasting amoung the plants. Nice shot!

His missing part of his leg no? I like the little bit of red on his wing, draws one attention to it.

@Ina: You may be right about his leg. His upper right. I stayed long enough for the shot so as not to disturb him, I did not notice anything wrong at the time. The grasshopper wasa gone when I returned. Thank you for your comment it is appreciated. Later: Upon reviewing other images I took of this grasshopper I see that all four of his legs are there. The upper right leg is turned inward and under his body. It appears he is intact and fine. Thank you for pointing this out.
nice shot

Wonderfully colored one, I think there must be hundreds of grasshopper variations around in the world. The leg problem occurs more often, when |I visited my sister I admired a new charcoal drawing she bought, showing two horses before a plough with a farmer on the field. Both horses missed one fore-leg (one horse missed the right one, the other horse missed the left one), so that it seemed they were sharing the two visible fore-legs, but the artist had drawn it after a photograph in which the two missing legs were hidden just after one foreleg of one horse :)

Ooh, I thought his back left leg was missing at first...but then I realized that it might be bent under his body. Whew!

Well done with the long lens, Barbara. Looks like this guy has another molt to get it's full wings. Nice color, and no idea what species it is.
